Airman 1st Class Thomas E Dockery Jr
Today another generation of Dockerys has been called to duty in the service of his country in the Middle East. My son Thomas will be leaving today for an airbase north of Bagdad Iraq for a tour of 4 months.
He is an electronics specialist deploying in support of the F-16 Aircraft. His job is classified but I am sure they must really need him to send him over there.
His mother, my wife served in the Persian Gulf during Desert Shied/Desert Storm in the early 90′s on board the USNS Mercy(T-AH-19), a Hospital Ship. I served on various ships that also deployed to the Persian Gulf, Aircraft Carrier Midway(CV-41), USS Thach(FFG-43),USS Russell(DDG-59). Thomas will be the first to be serving on a land based installation.
Georgiann and I are so proud of our son and proud of his service to our country. He is a true American and a hero in our eyes. I wish him a safe trip and a safe return. We love him so and will miss him until he comes home for a late Christmas.
